TUI’s premium club operator Robinson has a new top executive while DER Touristik has hired a well-known cruise industry manager.
Robinson has filled the gap in its management with the appointment of Tobias Neumann as joint managing director. The 44-year-old will be responsible for Sales & Marketing, Pricing & Trading, and Operations. Joint managing director Bernd Mäser remains responsible for Finance/Legal, IT, Technology/Purchasing, Corporate Communications, HR and Project Development. Mäser has also managed Robinson’s commercial activities and operations since the departure of former joint managing director Mike Schwanke at the start of this year.
Neumann has worked for TUI since 2004 in various positions and will assume the role alongside his existing tasks as Director Distribution TUI Hotels & Resorts, which mainly covers international distribution activities for the three brands Robinson, TUI Blue and TUI Magic Life.
“I am delighted that Tobias Neumann, an experienced colleague from TUI Group, is joining the management team at our premium club brand,” said Erik Friemuth, Managing Director TUI Hotels & Resorts. “With his expertise in tour operation and the interface to Distribution for TUI Group’s Hotels & Resorts segment, he will create a strong position for Robinson’s distribution entities and drive the growth roadmap further ahead.”
Robinson also recently appointed Marion Gigl, currently sales manager at TUI Suisse, as the new head of sales & marketing from January 1. She replaces Stefanie Brandes who will become joint head of Aldiana as of November 1.
Meanwhile, DER Touristik has hired experienced international cruise industry manager Christian Böll to expand the group’s position in the fast-growing market segment. The 51-year-old has held managerial positions at Aida Cruises, Nicko Cruises and, mostly recently, at Norwegian Cruise Line as Managing Director EMEA.
“DER Touristik is already one of the largest European sales agents for cruises. In future, we want to expand this activity in a targeted manner,” explained CEO Sören Hartmann.
From November onwards, Böll will be responsible for developing a group-wide cruise strategy for DER Touristik, focusing on sales & marketing. But cruise activities will remain a part of the different group units and tour operator brands at a local level.
